About Hot Ranking
Hot Ranking is the internet's tier-list playground â a place where every opinion gets a seat at the table and every ranking gets settled by the people who actually care.
Why we built it
We grew up arguing about rankings. Best Mario game. Best Kendrick album. Best 90s cartoon. Best NBA player of all time. The arguments were endless because rankings are fundamentally personal â your S-tier is someone else's D-tier, and that disagreement is half the fun.
But traditional polls are boring. A two-option vote doesn't capture how you actually feel about ten albums you love. A static "best of" listicle doesn't let you participate. That's why Hot Ranking exists: to turn ranking into a game, share the result instantly, and show you exactly where your taste lands compared to everyone else.
How it works
Every poll on Hot Ranking is one of four formats:
- Tier Lists â drag every option into S, A, B, C, D, or F tier. Used for rankings with strong opinions across many items (album discographies, movie franchises, character lineups).
- Rankings â order items from best to worst. Faster than tier lists, used when the question is "what's the order?" rather than "how good is each one?"
- This or That â head-to-head matchups for the eternal debates: Messi vs Ronaldo, Drake vs Kendrick, Coke vs Pepsi.
- Hot Takes â agree or disagree with a controversial statement. The format that turns Twitter arguments into civilized data.
Our content philosophy
We curate every poll by hand. We don't auto-generate ranking topics from trending searches â we pick subjects we actually want to argue about. Every poll has a real question worth answering: which Taylor Swift album holds up the best, whether pineapple belongs on pizza, who the GOAT of tennis really is.
For every option we add to a poll, we source a real image â album cover from iTunes, character portrait from Wikipedia, dish photo from Wikimedia Commons. No emoji-only stand-ins, no broken images, no placeholders. If we can't find a clean visual for an option, we don't include it.
We update the daily featured poll every 24 hours, automatically rotating through the most engaging rankings. Trending polls reflect real-time vote velocity, not editorial picks.
Voting integrity
We use a browser fingerprint plus a unique per-poll constraint to prevent the same person from voting twice on the same poll. Votes are anonymous â we don't store accounts or personal information for voters. Aggregated results update in real time so you can see how your tier list compares to the consensus immediately after submitting.
We rate-limit submissions (max 20 votes per minute from any one source) to keep results clean. We don't sell vote data, and we don't use it for retargeting.
How we make money
Hot Ranking is free to use and supported by display advertising via Google AdSense. Ads appear in fixed slots on the homepage and within poll pages â never inside the voting interface itself, because nothing kills a tier-list flow like an interstitial.
We don't run pop-ups, autoplay video ads, or paywalls. If you want to support us further, share a poll. The single best thing for a poll's quality is more votes from more people.
